A brush fire in Woodland Hills on Wednesday caused a total of $23,000 damage to two hillside homes before it was put out by firefighters in less than a half hour, the Los Angeles Fire Department said.
The fast-moving fire began at about 4:10 p.m. in the 22000 block of Gershwin Drive, burned up a grassy hillside, then damaged a home at 4711 Bizet Place and another across the street at 22901 Gershwin Drive, department spokesman Jim Williamson said.
In the house on Bizet Place, a two-story, 4,000-square-foot home, two rooms and the roof were destroyed. The house on Gershwin Drive had a burned roof, he said.
Fire officials are trying to determine the cause of the fire.
