William Lewis, who coached his children, Carl and Carol Lewis, to world prominence as track and field athletes, died Tuesday after a long illness. He was 60.
Lewis, who died at his home in Willingboro, N.J., was a teacher and public school administrator who devoted his spare time to civic and athletic activities.
Carl Lewis won four gold medals in the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics. Carol Lewis is a world-class athlete who concentrates on the long jump.
