Drug Dealers Cow Latin Officials, U.S. Aide Says

WASHINGTON — So many Colombian officials are being killed by drug dealers that the country is having a tough time finding people to fill vacancies on its Supreme Court, a State Department official says.
Assistant Secretary of State Ann Wrobleski said Wednesday that the Colombian judiciary is “under siege” and that two seats on Colombia’s Supreme Court are vacant because “nobody wants to serve. When you can’t get people to serve on the Supreme Court, I would say that’s intimidated.”
