Whitcomb Rallies La Quinta to Volleyball Victory

Mike Whitcomb, a senior outside hitter, had 21 kills as La Quinta High School rallied to defeat Redondo, 5-15, 15-13, 2-15, 15-5, 16-14, in a second-round Southern Section 3-A playoff match Saturday at Redondo Beach.
The Aztecs (11-5) came back from a 14-13 deficit in the fifth game and won when Whitcomb blocked a shot from the Redondo middle hitter.
La Quinta advances to the quarterfinals against Arcadia.
