A Thousand Oaks man who had been visiting his girlfriend at her Anaheim residence crashed his car into a power pole Sunday in what police called a suicide.
The man’s identity was being withheld pending notification of relatives, Police Sgt. Chet Barry said.
The man, who was about 20 to 25 years old, left the residence about 6 a.m. Sunday while the girlfriend was asleep, Barry said. A short time later, he struck a power pole at a high rate of speed in the 2000 block of Haster Street. The impact sheared the pole in half.
Several notes addressed to the man’s girlfriend, mother and father were found inside the car, Barry said.
