A $6-million libel suit filed by actor Tom Selleck’s father against the Globe supermarket tabloid was dismissed by a Los Angeles Superior Court judge Tuesday because the story, “Tom Selleck’s Love Secrets, by His Father,” was substantially correct. Judge Kurt Lewin dismissed the suit because Robert Selleck admitted in court documents that statements attributed to him in the December, 1982, article were correct, attorney Anthony Glassman said. The judge also found that statements made about the Sellecks’ relationship were not defamatory, said Glassman, who represents Globe International. In his lawsuit, the elder Selleck claimed he was embarrassed and humiliated by an article that claimed to reveal why the “Magnum, P.I.” star is shy and ill at ease with women.
