The Region : INS Employee Indicted in Bribery Plot

An Immigration and Naturalization Service employee has been indicted by a federal grand jury on charges of accepting bribes to approve sham marriages for Koreans seeking legal resident status in the United States, federal prosecutors said. Richard Dennis Jackson, 39, a contact representative for the INS, is accused of processing phony marriage documents and supplying blank INS certifications authorizing aliens to work while their petitions for permanent resident status were pending. Federal officials said they did not know how many sham marriages Jackson allegedly arranged in collaboration with Dong Yong Kim and Hoja Son, who were charged in a separate criminal information.
