Scoring Error Overturns Victory by San Pedro Girls; Palisades Wins Swim Title

An apparent victory by the San Pedro High School girls’ swim team in the City championships last week has been overturned because of a scoring error, giving the title instead to Palisades.
San Pedro originally was named the winner in last Wednesday’s meet at East Los Angeles College with 249 points, 17 better than Palisades. But Monday, officials recounted the scoring and found that Palisades actually won its seventh straight City, 241-240.
“There were a couple mistakes,” City Commissioner Hal Harkness said. “One was with the mathematics, and there may have been a problem in the way one of the relays was scored.”
