A 45-year-old Los Angeles man died and two other people were injured Thursday in a three-vehicle crash in Canoga Park, Los Angeles police said.
The name of the dead man, who may have suffered a heart attack before his pickup truck collided head-on with a car, was withheld pending notification of relatives, Officer Walter Hogue said.
The man was eastbound on Victory Boulevard west of Mason Avenue about 11:20 a.m. when witnesses noticed him driving erratically, Hogue said. The car jumped the curb on the south side of the street before swerving back across the road and hitting an oncoming Cadillac, Hogue said.
The Cadillac then was struck by a westbound Oldsmobile as the pickup continued past the collision and overturned, Hogue said.
Witnesses reported seeing the driver of the pickup slumped over the wheel before the accident, Hogue said. An autopsy was pending, he said.
The Cadillac’s driver, Marilyn J. Berman, 34, of Agoura, was treated for a broken leg. Berman, who police said is eight months pregnant, was “being monitored” at AMI Tarzana Regional Medical Center, a spokeswoman said. The driver of the Oldsmobile did not seek medical help, but his passenger, Helene Nunez, 68, of Woodland Hills, was treated for bruises and a broken nose, Hogue said.
