Jay Sharbutt omitted some very significant information from his article, “NBC Names Shriver, Matson Co-Hosts” (May 15).
For example, there is no mention of the spouses of Mssrs. Boyd Matson, Garrick Utley, Al Roker and Bill Macatee. Similarly, Sharbutt failed to trace the lineage of any of these gentlemen.
Inclusion of such pertinent details about one member of the broadcast team (“(Maria) Shriver, who is married to actor Arnold Schwarzennegger,” “Shriver, a niece of Sen. Edward M. Kennedy”), and not the others, clearly is sexist and unfair.
After all, Boyd Matson is not just another pretty face.
