Scholarship Excuse Is Limit for Bruin Fan

Regarding the letter (Viewpoint, May 16) which stated that UCLA’s victories over USC come with the strong help of NCAA scholarship limitations, the readers were left with the false impression of how the NCAA legislation functions.
The limitations are not reductions in the amount of money an athlete can receive, but it is the cutback in the number of scholarships an institution (whether public or private) has to offer in any given year.
Therefore, the NCAA legislation has affected UCLA and USC equally, and the Bruins have defeated the Trojans on a level playing field. So, now where do they point their finger?
