Curtis Strong, a former caterer for the Philadelphia Phillies clubhouse who was convicted in 1985 of distributing cocaine to major league baseball players, is seeking a new trial, saying his defense was impaired by his attorney’s drug addiction.

Strong filed a petition in U. S. District Court in Pittsburgh this week saying his attorney was using cocaine while representing him. In his petition, Strong requests that he be freed on bail while awaiting a new trial.
