UCLA Withstands Hawaii Rally, 12-11

Scott Cline drove in five runs--two on a home run in the first inning--and UCLA withstood a four-run ninth-inning rally to beat Hawaii, 12-11, in the opening baseball game of the West II Regional at Tempe, Ariz.
Trailing by 12-3, Hawaii (44-18) scored four times in the sixth, the key blow a two-run homer by Markus Owens. The Rainbows scored four more runs, including Robert Muhammad’s two-run homer, in the ninth inning.
UCLA (38-23-1) was held hitless after Steve Stowell’s RBI single in the fourth inning.
