San Diego Section Softball : Madison Pulls Out 3-2 Win Over Orange Glen in 9th

SAN DIEGO — Kim Lester scored from third base on Jennifer Booker’s grounder in the bottom of the ninth inning Saturday to give Madison a 3-2 victory over Orange Glen in a first-round San Diego Section 3-A softball playoff game.
Debbie Corbett (7-3) pitched the final eight innings and struck out nine for the victory.
Orange Glen led, 2-0, in the first inning on a two-run home run by Christine Westerland. Madison tied the score, 2-2, in the fifth on a two-run homer by Lori Eliyas.
In the ninth, Lester and Wendy Choisser singled. Lori Hurlburt sacrificed the runners. Booker grounded to short and Lester beat the throw to the plate.
Madison (17-5) will play at Sweetwater Tuesday in a 3-A quarterfinal game.

Briefly--Hilltop 2, Mount Miguel 1; Grossmont 1, Vista 0; El Capitan 2, Mira Mesa 0.
In 2-A games:
Marian 1, Clairemont 0--Darbee Seegrist went 6 innings without giving up a hit for Marian at home. Karen Ritz drove in the game’s only run with a second-inning triple.
In other 2-A games:
Briefly--University City 5, San Pasqual 3 (9 innings); Escondido 2, Castle Park 1; USDHS 8, Crawford 2.
