A fire ignited by an electrical short circuit erupted in a two-story warehouse in Southeast San Diego early Sunday, causing $70,000 in damages but no injuries.
Fire Department spokesman Capt. Bob Glass said the fire at C.O.D. Wholesalers broke out at 12:41 a.m. and was under control less than an hour later. About 50 firefighters responded to the blaze.
Glass said the fire started in an office in the rear of the warehouse, which is in the 6200 block of Federal Boulevard in Encanto.
The building reportedly was full of frozen fish. Under policies covering fires at businesses that handle or store food, officials from the San Diego County Department of Health Services responded to survey the remaining food.
