Sen. Edward M. Kennedy (D-Mass.) ended his four-day visit to Poland without meeting with Gen. Wojciech Jaruzelski, Poland’s leader. Western diplomats said that Kennedy’s request for a meeting with Jaruzelski might have been turned down because of his meetings with leaders of the outlawed labor union, Solidarity. Kennedy told reporters that the high point of his visit was his meeting with Solidarity founder Lech Walesa.
