Torrance : Airport Leases Amended
The City Council has approved amended airport leases for a company that sells, rents and repairs planes at Torrance Airport. The amended leases outline the terms of a settlement in a suit in which Eli Alexander, owner of ALEXAIR, Collins Dietrich Air Services Inc., and Peninsula Aviation Co., sued the city of Torrance after he was prohibited from selling jet fuel at the airport last year.
Alexander contended that his negotiations with the city permitted him to sell fuel for planes owned and operated by Hughes Co.
Officials said that a city policy prohibiting the sale of jet fuel at Torrance Airport will be reviewed and possibly modified later this year. Alexander has agreed to abide by whatever policy results from that review.
