Garcia, Crawford to Fight Tonight at the Olympic
- Share via
San Fernando heavyweight Alex Garcia will face his stiffest test tonight at the Olympic Auditorium when he takes on Tony Crawford of San Diego in a four-round bout.
Crawford is 1-1, both fights ending in second-round knockouts. Crawford lost to Levi Billups in his first outing last November. He knocked out Perry Howerton two months ago.
Crawford might not appear to present much of a challenge, but he’s a definite improvement over Garcia’s first two opponents.
Garcia scored a first-round knockout over Cliff Melbourne in his pro debut in February. He won a four-round decision over Richard Harrell several weeks later. Melbourne, a pepperoni-stick maker who took the fight on 18 hours’ notice, had entered the ring 0-6. Harrell had been 1-6-1.
