SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. — Over All, the favorite of a record opening-day crowd of 29,119, won the $92,250 Schuylerville Stakes for 2-year-old fillies Wednesday at Saratoga Race Course.
Trained by Wayne Lukas and ridden by Angel Cordero, Over All made a three-wide move into the lead midway down the backstretch. Although tiring, she held off a determined bid by Joe’s Tammie to win by a neck.
Over All, a chestnut daughter of Mr. Prospector, was timed in 1:10 3/5 for six furlongs and paid $3.60, $2.80 and $2.40. Joe’s Tammie returned $3.60 and $3.20, and Flashy Runner paid $6.80 to show.
Over All was the only winner of six mounts for Cordero, who is seeking his 12th straight Saratoga riding title.
The previous record opening-day crowd at the 120-year-old track was 28,302 on Aug. 4, 1982, a track spokesman said.
