U.S. District Judge Pierre Leval on Thursday temporarily blocked publication of “Firebird, a Biography of Igor Stravinsky” because of possible copyright in fringement. Leval issued a 25-page preliminary injunction in New York District Court barring publication of the biography of the Russian composer, being prepared by John Kobler for Macmillan Co. The suit was brought by Robert Craft, Stravinsky’s personal assistant, secretary and “closest intellectual and musical confidant (who) became virtually an adoptive son to the maestro and Mrs. Stravinsky,” the judge said.
