3 Students Awarded $500 Scholarships

Kerri Alexander of Brea, Shirley S. Richards of Irvine and Thanh Van Nguyen of Garden Grove are among 12 recipients of scholarships awarded by the Red Onion Restaurants Corp.
The restaurant chain, as part of a newly instituted affirmative action program, awards the $500 scholarships to minority students on the basis of academic excellence, community involvement and financial need, company officials said.
