Sweden Beats Soviets, 5-3, in Canada Cup

CALGARY, Canada — Sweden scored three goals in the first period, and Lars Karlsson scored the game-winner late in the second period to upset the Soviet Union, 5-3, in a Canada Cup hockey game Saturday night.
Bengt Gustafsson, Tommy Albelin and Anders Carlsson scored for Sweden in the first period. The Soviet Union got goals from Valeri Kamensky in the first period and Vladimir Krutov and Andrei Khomutov in the second.
Canada will play Finland at Hamilton today.
