* Barry Thompson was promoted to corporate controller of Cooke Media Inc., a Woodland Hills-based media concern.
Thompson will be responsible for the company’s Daily News newspaper and CableVision cable-television operations. He had been controller of the Daily News since March, 1988. Cooke Media is owned by financier Jack Kent Cooke.
