HOCKEY? The market researchers must have been crazy when they told the L.A. Kings to put a hockey paraphernalia shop in surf-crazy Orange County, right? . . . Wrong. After studying their home crowds, the Kings discovered that 25% of their fans were coming from Orange County, the biggest demand concentrated in the Costa Mesa-Newport Beach area. . . . The Los Angeles Kings Slapshop, located in Santa Ana near Costa Mesa, has been open since August, and the Kings say business is fine.
