BOYS’ ROUNDUP : Borella’s 37 Points Get Laguna Beach Past Saddleback

Josh Borella scored 37 points as Laguna Beach defeated Saddleback, 85-72, in a nonleague high school basketball game at Laguna Beach Friday.
Darren Gravely had 17 for Laguna Beach (8-6). Jason Register scored 22 for Saddleback.
In other nonleague games:
El Toro 83, Laguna Hills 52--Rob Johnson, Ken Koppelman, Jeremy Hogue and Dave Canfield combined for 60 points and 32 rebounds for host El Toro (8-6). Johnson led with 20 points and 10 rebounds. Brian Matsen had 27 for Laguna Hills (7-6).
Valencia 55, Troy 51--John Wilson scored 16 points for host Valencia (10-2). Randy Abbott had 15 points for Troy.
Brea-Olinda 73, Sonora 61--Jeff Roeser scored 21 points and Doug Yeo 18 for host Brea-Olinda (5-8).
Century 55, John Glenn 50--Century (8-5) trailed by 21 with three minutes left in the third quarter but came back as Rudy Alvarez scored 10 of his 20 points in the fourth quarter.
Western 45, Bellflower 9 (game stopped at halftime)--Western improved to 12-1 in a game played through just two quarters because of a leaky roof at Bellflower.
In the Olympic League:
Orange Lutheran 69, Whitney 68--Jim Meyer scored off an offensive rebound with nine seconds remaining for Orange Lutheran (4-7, 1-0 in league). Jeff Courvoisier and Brian Bedord each scored 14 points for Orange Lutheran. Whitney dropped to 6-4 and 0-1.
Capistrano Valley Christian 47, Ayala 46--Nathan Owens and Chuck Carlson each scored 16 for Capistrano Valley Christian (3-5, 1-0). Guard Dhati Lewis scored 12 points for Ayala (2-1, 0-1), which had a chance to win with no time left but missed two free throws.
Valley Christian 66, Whittier Christian 48--Center Todd Van Otterloo scored 28 points, 12 in the third period, for visiting Valley Christian at Sunny Hills High School. Ruben Oronoz had 17 for Whittier Christian (3-8, 0-1).
Brethren Christian 61, Ontario Christian 60--Brandon Stott scored 27 points and Chris Fry had 18 points and 13 rebounds for Brethren Christian (10-2, 1-0). Chad Camping led Ontario (6-4, 0-1) with 24 points.
