Running back Freddie Bradley (6-feet, 195 pounds), who set six national junior college records during his two-year career at Moorpark College, was named to the JC Athletic Bureau All-American team, although only players from California schools are represented on this team.
Two other Valley-region players made All-American. Sophomore Lolesio Takapu (6-2, 235), who helped Glendale win the Western State Conference Northern Division, was chosen at linebacker, and Ventura sophomore Chris Thomas (6-2, 185) was named as a kick returner.
Tony Veney, an assistant track and field coach at Cal State Northridge, has been named as an assistant for this year’s national Pan American Games junior (19 and under) women’s team.
The Bret Saberhagen golf tournament, a fund-raiser for the Cleveland High athletic program, will be played Jan. 21 at Porter Valley Country Club in Northridge.
