PREP ROUNDUP : Huntington Beach Wrestlers Finish Third

Mike Nguyen and Mike Bolster of Huntington Beach High School finished third in their weight classes to help the Oilers place third in the 40-team El Camino wrestling tournament Saturday.

West Torrance finished first with 134 points, Torrance (129 1/2) was second and Huntington Beach (129) third.

Nguyen competed in the 125-pound weight division and Bolster in the heavyweight division.

Also for Huntington Beach: Steve Alfano (135), Rob Wright (145), Eric Escobedo (152) and Dan Lukes (171) each earned sixth-place honors.

In Angelus League boys’ soccer:

Mater Dei 2, Santa Margarita 0--Chris Campbell and Sean Wynes scored in the first half for Mater Dei (12-3, 2-0) at Saddleback College. Tom Evans had eight saves for the Monarchs and Matt Reis had nine saves for Santa Margarita (1-1 in league).

In Olympic League girls’ soccer:

Orange Lutheran 4, Ayala 1--Amber Parkinson scored twice and Christina Riedmann and Shawnna Johnson once for host Orange Lutheran (5-4-1, 2-1-1). Christie Paolia scored for Ayala.
