LAKE CASITAS : Arson Is Suspected in Boathouse Fire

Arson is suspected in a fire just north of the dam at Lake Casitas that destroyed a boathouse and the boat inside Tuesday.
Three fire engine crews answered the 4:25 p.m. alarm and contained the blaze within seven minutes, said Michael Lindberry of the Ventura County Fire Department. There were several explosions due to gas cans in the 15- by 20-foot boathouse, but there were no injuries, he said.
The Casitas Municipal Water District, which owns the property, estimated total damages at $36,000.
The county fire and sheriff’s departments are investigating the fire.
