A fire in Thousand Oaks on Friday did $50,000 damage to a 1,200-square-foot house, authorities said.
The fire began about 1:40 p.m. in a single-story residence in the 800 block of Bury Circle, Ventura County Fire Dispatcher Alison Schemler said. Twenty-four firefighters responded to the blaze and brought it under control by 1:54 p.m., Schemler said. None of the residents was home when the fire started, she said.
Smoke caused extensive damage throughout the house, Schemler said. Authorities estimated $40,000 damage to the structure and a $10,000 loss in contents, she said.
The cause of the fire is under investigation, Schemler said.
