Friendly Officers

Last October, we arrived in Los Angeles aboard Amtrak. We had about an eight-hour layover between trains.
During this time, we were trying to figure out where we could go for a decent meal. We crossed the street to a park where a festival was in progress and asked a policeman there about a good place to eat. He told us about the restaurant where the French dip sandwich had originated (Philippe Restaurant). I asked if it was far enough away to call a cab (my wife and I are both disabled). He and his partner said to get in their car and offered to run us over. This was a high point of our trip and I enjoyed telling all my friends about being picked up by the police.
Many thanks to these two officers.
