Kremlin Crackdown in Lithuania
In November, 1939, the world was preoccupied by great evils somewhere. So the Soviet Union engaged in an evil that was all too easily overlooked, and invaded little Finland. The world almost forgot that war.
Now, in 1991, the world is once again occupied with evil and the threat of a great cataclysm in the Mideast. And Lithuania, which declared its independence, was invaded by the Soviet armored forces to snuff out its independence. And once again few are paying attention.
The Soviets may have changed some in 50 years, but let us continue to be judicious about where they have not.
