Rain Due; Mountains Get Snow

Snow was falling in the Southern California mountains Sunday night, with a half-inch accumulation reported at Big Bear Lake and an additional one to three inches expected above the 6,000-foot level by this morning.
The National Weather Service said moisture associated with a developing upper level low-pressure system in western Nevada was producing the precipitation in the mountains and some desert regions from Blythe to Victorville. Isolated thundershowers were reported in some instances.
Forecasters said the low-pressure system is expected to move near Los Angeles today, bringing showers with periods of rain and snow continuing in the mountains. Amounts in and around the Los Angeles Basin were expected to be light.
Cooler weather is expected today with highs from the mid-50s to the low 60s. Sunday’s Civic Center high was 65 degrees.
