A man upset over his girlfriend’s desire to end their relationship shot and killed her and wounded two of her friends in her South Los Angeles home, police said Monday. Elicia Powell, 18, was shot in the upper body and died at the scene, said Detective Roosevelt Joseph.
Her friends, Monique Ward, 18, and Darmesha Shaw, 18, were in stable condition at Los Angeles County-UCLA Medical Center, he said.
The alleged gunman, Darryl Ramon Smith, 21, of Los Angeles fled and police were looking for him, Joseph said. The three women were inside Powell’s house in the 2100 block of West 85th Street about 7:35 p.m. when Smith came over and began arguing with Powell after she told him she wanted to end their relationship, Joseph said.
