Amdahl Corp.: The Sunnyvale, Calif., computer maker reported that fourth-quarter profit surged 47% to $61.3 million. Revenue was up 3% to $644.4 million. Annual income jumped 20% to $184 million on revenue that rose 3% to $2.16 billion. The company said especially strong sales of large mainframe computers were a key reason for higher earnings.
