Cordero Injures Shoulder in Accident at Aqueduct

NEW YORK — Jockey Angel Cordero Jr. injured his right shoulder in a spill Friday during the fourth race at Aqueduct.
Frank Sanabria, Cordero’s agent, said the jockey sustained a slight shoulder separation and would be out of action about a week.
Cordero, 48, was taken to Long Island Jewish Hospital for further evaluation.
The Hall of Fame rider was injured when his mount, Modest Glow, fell over Originate, who broke down in midstretch. Originate’s rider, J.C. Ferrer, escaped serious injury.
