Braving subzero temperatures, at least 150,000 Germans in BONN rallied in the biggest anti-war demonstration yet in Western Europe. In BERLIN, about 30,000 people demonstrated. The rallies went on despite a warning from Chancellor Helmut Kohl’s government that they could blacken Germany’s reputation among its anti-Iraq allies. In PARIS, leftist youths stoned police after an anti-war protest that drew 10,000. There were also peace demonstrations in LONDON, PARIS, GENEVA and AMSTERDAM.
