A Averages, but Can They Read?

The Capistrano Unified School District has found a new way of honoring scholastic achievement--by redefining the term “valedictorian.” Now all of those students who have earned a 4.0 or higher are entitled to the title of “valedictorian.” You see, it is now possible to earn a 5.0; 4.0 still means straight-A average, or 100% scores on all course work undertaken, but 5.0 means in excess of that. With the combination of watered-down courses and grade inflation, educators have finally achieved the ultimate in absurdity--a percentage in excess of 100 and numerous people who rank No. 1. I wonder how many of them can read.
