STANTON — Authorities on Saturday blamed gang members for setting a fire that caused $65,000 damage to a home.
About a dozen county firefighters battled the blaze in the 10800 block of Rose Street, Fire Capt. Dan Young said. The fire, which was reported at 4:20 a.m. Saturday, was extinguished in about 20 minutes.
Young said that physical evidence pointed to arson and that a gang-related incident had occurred at the house less than an hour before the blaze.
“It appears that the residents of that house had been involved in an assault with some gang members 45 minutes earlier,” he said. “It sounds like this arson was one in a number of incidents between the residents and this gang.”
An investigation is continuing.
