Bush names Group to Aid Czech Business

WASHINGTON — President Bush on Monday named the directors of a government-financed organization intended to spur the growth of private businesses in Czechoslovakia.
The Administration will make an initial grant of $5 million to set up the organization, known as the Czech and Slovak-American Enterprise Fund. Congress will also be asked to authorize $60 million for later spending.
The directors are: John R. Petty, former chairman and chief executive of the Marine Midland Bank; David O. Maxwell, former chairman and chief executive of Fannie Mae; Julia M. Walsh, managing director of Tucker Anthony Inc.; former Rep. Charles Vanik (D-Ohio), and Milan Ondrus, retired vice president of FMC Corp.
