A 19-year-old Laguna Beach man died Thursday when he lost control of his motorcycle, hit a curb and then hit a road marker, breaking his neck, authorities said.
The victim, whose name was withheld pending notification of relatives, was pronounced dead at the scene, California Highway Patrol spokeswoman Linda Burrus said.
“He was traveling at an unsafe, extremely high rate of speed,” Burrus said. The victim was wearing a helmet.
The 3:10 p.m. accident occurred as the victim was driving north on the Laguna Freeway transition road to the northbound San Diego Freeway, Burrus said.
