Jordan Ranch a Local Concern
In regard to Gov. Pete Wilson’s “unusual intervention” in the proposed Jordan Ranch development, what an understatement!
Wilson says “No one is being strong-armed.” He says “The Jordan Ranch project is far more preferred than something that might come down the pike 10 years from now.”
Wilson, according to aide Richard Sybert, “is not trying to circumvent local control over the project.”
Then what exactly is Wilson doing? Perhaps he should take care of state business, where he should be an interested party. He should be developing priorities for state-mandated programs, which are so seriously underfunded that they severely impact the ability of county governments to provide stable funding for police, fire, libraries and various other internal departments.
Nor does this take into consideration our present lack of water, poor air, educational funding or traffic congestion. Perhaps Wilson should get his house in order before attempting to run ours.
