A 15-year-old boy standing in his driveway in Pomona was shot to death and his companion wounded in what police said may have been retaliation for an earlier gang shooting across town.
Police were searching Friday for suspects in the drive-by killing of Alvaro Rojero Hernandez, who was shot in the abdomen Thursday and died during surgery at Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center. The boy was standing with 13-year-old Alfredo Acevedo, who was shot in the leg.
Capt. Chuck Heilman said the two boys were not gang members, but may have been shot in retaliation for an earlier gang shooting. In that incident, a youth with a shotgun fired at least two rounds toward a small group of people, wounding Richard Loman, 20, in the leg.
