Filmmaker Greg MacGillivray of Laguna Beach returned this week from Chile’s Strait of Magellan, where he has been filming an OMNIMAX movie for next summer’s Expo ’92 in Seville, Spain. Like its sister system IMAX, OMNIMAX uses 70-millimeter film for movies shown on five-story-high screens, but OMNIMAX displays its picture on a dome instead of IMAX’s flat surface. MacGillivray has made 11 IMAX and OMNIMAX films.
