From 1,000 to 3,000 gallons of raw sewage entered San Diego Bay at Spanish Landing during a routine maintenance operation early Friday morning, the county Department of Health Services said.
Officials said the disinfected sewage was being hosed into a recirculation system when the sewage escaped into the parking lot at Pump Station 2 at 4077 North Harbor Drive.
Warning signs will be displayed until the water is safe for recreational use, health authorities said.
