FULLERTON — Jeff Besinaiz, a member of the Fullerton College football team, committed suicide last Tuesday, Coach Hal Sherbeck confirmed.
Besinaiz, who was 19, hanged himself at his parents’ La Habra house without leaving a note or telling anyone of his reasons, according to police reports.
“It’s an absolute tragedy having a young man take his own life,” Sherbeck said. “We are deeply saddened to lose such a fine person and player as Jeff was. Our players and coaching staff are still in a state of shock.”
Besinaiz, from La Habra High School, was a reserve defensive end and the team’s special teams player of the year.
The funeral was Saturday.
