CEOs Overpaid, Aides Say in Poll: The average chief executive is paid far more than the amount managers in their companies believe that the CEO should be paid, an Industry Week magazine survey found. If 51% of the managers surveyed had their way, the chief executive of the company in which they work would be paid $100,000 to $300,000 annually, the magazine reports in its issue today. CEOs in mid-sized firms received total pay averaging $2.1 million, including stock options, restricted shares and other types of long-term compensation, Industry Week said. At large firms, the average was more than $3.3 million.
