Pacific Enterprises: The parent company of Southern California Edison and Thrifty Corp. reported net income of $64 million for the first quarter, down 5% from last year. The Los Angeles-based company had revenue of $1.85 billion, down 2%. The company said increased operating income at its natural gas distribution, utility and oil and gas units were offset by lower earnings in its retailing business.
