Ventura County Supervisor Maria VanderKolk has announced that she will not accept annual campaign contributions larger than $250 per person.
“I don’t ever want voters to perceive that political contributions will influence my vote on any issue,” she said.
Under current state and county law, candidates and elected officials can accept any amount of money, she said. Contributions of less than $100 do not have to be reported to election officials.
However, VanderKolk, who took office in the 2nd District this year, said she will report every dollar received.
