Ticketmaster’s Suit
Ticketmaster has just lost a customer. Barry’s Ticket Service has just gained one. By suing Barry’s under the cruel RICO Act, Ticketmaster is being totally unjust. If an employee broke Ticketmaster policy in the selling of tickets to Barry’s, the employee should be disciplined, perhaps even fired.
Barry’s is guilty of one thing only: making an honest profit. It is offering a choice to sports and entertainment fans. The choice is to spend a large amount of time or a large amount of money.
Let the free market decide ticket prices, both at Ticketmaster, which caters to customers who choose to pay with their time, and Barry’s, which caters to customers who choose to pay with their money. And let’s keep the needling, paternalistic government out of it.
