America West Airlines: The Phoenix-based carrier said its first-quarter loss widened to $49.9 million from $2.6 million in the first quarter of 1990. Revenue rose 16% to $352.9 million. The company said the recession, a drop in travel during the Gulf War and higher fuel prices led to the lower results.
